The Interact club of Smithtown High School East recently hosted a fundraiser dinner that raised $2,950 to benefit the Johnny Mac Foundation.
John McNamara, or “Johnny Mac,” was an FDNY firefighter from Blue Point who passed away in 2009 due to 9/11 related cancer and the foundation was established after his death to help 9/11 first responders affected by illnesses.
Interact is a community service club that works with the Smithtown Rotary and Smithtown Sunrise Rotary.
The dinner was held at the St. James Firehouse with help from generous donations of food and raffle items from local restaurants and businesses.
